Sunday will be Easter so since I blog so infrequently I thought I'd better say it now. I am currently knitting a prayer shawl in Lion Brand Coverd Bridge Red in honor of my Mother, I chose the red since she died the day after Valentine's Day. It is turning out beautiful and since I am knitting it on size 13 needles it is going really fast, plus I have been taking it to work and actually taking a break, well all but yesterday. It was a Monday from Hell, I got there around 7:15 and left at 5:30 then on my way home there had been a wreck and traffic was backed up for a couple of miles inching along, I did a U and took a back road (LONG WAY) home, but it was better than sitting forever! By the time I got home it was almost 7:00pm and I usually get here around 5:30 so I had a long delay, but once I got home Bobby had already feed the goats, and we had cooked a lot Sunday so no cooking anyway, I went to bed early tho!!
Today will be a better day, gotta go get ready for work...oh a new email friend from one of my Yahoo Groups I am in sent the cutest booklet on Tin Can Hats, think I'll do a big straw one with my Mich Ultra cans, won't that be cute at the "Spring" this summer!!
Make it a Great Day!!

long overdue blog
well my Mother's battle is finally over, she passed away so peacefully on Feb 15th. she loved snow like I do and it snowed the morning we buried her. Everyone was there with the exception of one grandson, her only grandson left and he chose not to come, His son was heartbroken and he could not even get above himself to show up for his only grandmother's funeral. His cross to bear, I actually was surprised, my Mother worshiped him and this was how he chose to repay her unconditional love.
I took last week off and my wonderful SIL from Anchorage was here, we had a ball, she kept me on the go so I couldn't think!! it was a wonderful time, just fun and carefree week, I really needed that, I am sure I will be lost for a while, I won't be trekking to the Nursing home, twice daily before and after work. I spent tonight after work by catching up on emails.
At work today I got lots of cards, a plant some candles and tons of hugs and kisses, it is so nice to work with great people. I even got some homemade pimento cheese, a loaf of bread, chips and cokes, and paper plates and napkins from a friend who I had done the same for when her Mother died. She and I both went with bright colors and she got a darling card, not a sympathy card a fun card. We are so alike!!
well gotta run, just had to let ya'll know my precious Mother's ordeal is over and she is now in Heaven with my family who have gone ahead of her! I hope my brother is happy, he has his Mother back...

Exciting and Fun Family Day
My great niece, (I was there when she was born) is having her 1st baby in May so her aunts on her dad's side of the family and some others gave her a wonderful brunch shower today, so much fun, my brother who passed away a couple of years ago was her grandfather, my SIL and two nieces from GA was there today along with their sister( the new granma to be) both of her girls and lots of their extended families, 7 babies under 6 months old and their mommies and granma's. Lots and lots of fun and wonderful, Cade is going ot have everything he could possibly ever want.
the booties and bonnet to match I had knitted and a darling cap I had crocheted were a big hit along with two shawls my daughter had made on looms and I had crocheted edges. My sister candle wicked all these little farm animals on muslin and made a quilt out of it, Adorable even tho my sister wasn't happy with her binding, I thought it was fine and everyone had a fit over it.
well need to get back to the afghan I am making with homespun. Monday found out the Hancock's in my town was closing, I am sick, I love their yarn and beads!! so gotta stock up before May and they close!!!

how southern are you??
http://www.gotoquiz.com/
well I took this quiz I copied off another site, it is the one that says what American Accent do you have, whew mine was 97 % southern, I always knew it was country and southern so I wasn't surprised.
well we enjoyed Mother's 90th birthday yesterday. What a surprise it was to still have her after all she has been thru since last July. the Hospice nurse still says it is only a matter of time, her heart is so weak they have to look at her to make sure she is even breathing, she is one strong willed lady! or as my daughter affectionately says "Stubborn Old Woman". I am content now tho since she reached the 90 mark, the Good Lord can take her anytime now, I will be lost for a while since I go mornings before I go to work and nights before I go home, sometimes I even come home and eat and go back with my knitting and just sit with her if she is having a really bad day, she now has immense pain in her lower back, they aren't sure why, they have started the morphine based compound that they give every hour if needed into her mouth, I ask them to keep it light till we got thru yesterday. It seemed to be almost too much excitement for her but, shy of my son, his wife , my teenage nephew and two great nieces, her family shared the day together for a couple of hours, my grandson's mother brought him and stayed as well, I was so thankful I could spend the time with him as well. I pray daily my son will come around to his senses but it is his choice not to be a part of this family not mine and I have done the best of my ability to raise two children to have their own minds and make their own desicions.
This morning we woke up to a small snowfall, about 1 1/2 -2 inches. Bobby had to go to work so I need to get busy and clean some while he is gone.
Have a wonderful Super Bowl day, I am going to watch both Knitty Gritty and GO Precious Peyton's SuperBowl back and forth.

Knitting along
hello people, it's been a while huh? Mother is about the same, hard to believe we made it thru the holidays, 4 months ago we would never have believed she'd be this strong a lady! around Christmas they changed some of her meds, and now she is able to eat, has even gained 5 lbs since Christmas. She will be 90 on the 3rd of Feb!
My oldest turned 37 yesterday, she was teased badly about being "almost" 40. her husband is 2 years younger and he was unmerciful about her being so much older than him..ha.
I have finished several scarfs and am now working on a afghan made of knitted squares from Lion website. it is made of homespun, that stuff is just so soft, then you just whip stitch the squares together and whipstitch around the entire thing, I think tho I may crochet a lacy edge around, depends on how much thread is left over after I get all the squares done. I just started Sunday and am almost half thru with 2nd square. Between working and going to the nursing home I think that is pretty quick.
I am enjoying all my yahoo groups, Crochet one I like finally moved to yahoo and the digests are much better, congrats Kim on being named editor to Interweave Crochet Mag...and as always I love reading BusyKnitting.
my great niece is having her 1st baby and I gave her a blanket I had crocheted for Christmas, I finished booties and am working on the hat to match for her shower in a couple of weeks, I have another hat done I crocheted but I am afraid it will be too tiny, not having someone to fit to isn't as easy as it looks on the net...it's been 10 years since my darling grandson Daniel was a baby and I don't remember how little or big his head was..ha
Well I need to go get dressed for work, it is a chilly 21 here this morning! Brr but at least no snow, kinda am ready for a good one tho!

Sunday Morning
Hmmm so nice and quiet today, Bobby is working on the dozier, it's really cold outside and what is a great cold meal? Homemade Vegetable Soup, yummy, Last night Mother and Ms Mrytle both said they'd like to have some, so I got up this morning and hope to get it made and to them before they get Lunch. Last Sunday was a bad day for Mother, she was so confused, 1st she was seeing my brother who's been dead for almost 3 years, then she was worried about Daddy's suit being cleaned for his funeral he's been dead 27 years, then I needed to keep an eye on the kids, Angie is 36, and her little brother Brax is 34 so...but my sister and I spent the day with her and then went to see about her before I went to work on Monday and she was back to herself, It scared us both because everyone I have ever know started seeing the dead right before they die. We have had several months now to adjust to the thought of Mother not being here but you are just always dreading "THAT" call.
I had my precious grandson a week ago on Thursday, he spent the night and all day on Friday, his Daddy picked him up on Friday night, he really wanted to stay, he just loves being here of course who wouldn't want to be where they can do ANYTHING they want at age 9, or any age for that matter!!!
I am still knitting to keep calm but, last week it was discovered my blood pressure was almost stroke level, Hmmm wonder why?? but the Dr thinks it's stress...duh...so we are trying a pill to help me sleep at night, then also increasing my Wellbutrin, luv that stuff...she of course also said if I walked each day a little and tried to cut back on salt, caffeine and sugars, it would help, well hell just let me stroke on outta here...I am a fat lazy person have been for 53 years, but I do want to be around for my Daniel just a little longer so I am trying not to think about the fact my son and his wife want nothing to do with our family, and that my Mother is slowly dying a little each day and the holidays are coming up, I just will not plan anything. I am not doing Thanksgiving Dinner and probably will not do Christmas either, looks a lot like Gift certificates in the mail this year for my Son and his wife, and I will get Daniel from his Mother before Christmas so I can have some time with him, Not sure what I'll do for my daughter and her husband and his daughter or my sister's family. I am just trying to get by the best I can day to day.
Well enough whinning, ya'll have a special Sunday and enjoy time with your family, got to get back to my soup and the laundry oh yeah Paula's coming on the tv too...Smooches

so much has happened
So very much has happened since I last blogged. My mother fell broke her hip in 3 places, found out she has a very bad heart and had to wait three days before they could even fix the hip, then she almost died anyway. She was sick to her stomach didn't eat for almost 7 weeks, was only getitng an IV, had to be put in the nursing home because Medicare only pays 19 days in the hospital no matter what!! Then they ran a CT scan she had impacted bowels, finally got that cleared up and took her off an iron pill they had put her on when she 1st went into the hospital. Once they took her off that pill she started beign able to hold down food and now seems to be improving somewhat, they tell us her heart is still very very weak so she is still no where near out of danger but we feel better about her anyway. She is only sitting up in bed, they don't even try to sit her up anymore because her heart is so weak. But she is still here and that in itself is a blessing to us. She is in no pain if she were we would not want that to be. She is in the room with a 90 year old lady who also broke her hip, she is getting better and stronger every day tho. She is a precious lady who trys to take care of my 89 year old mother!! so cute together!!
I finally got my 1st whole 40 hour work week in since she fell 8 weeks ago today. I am exhausted from all the stress and trying to work and go to the nursing home every day but I am afraid if I miss a day she would die and I wouldn't have gotten her sweet kisses that day. We all are telling her every day how much we love her because you never know how much time we have remaining together. I am upset my son isn't going to see her he's onlyt been once since we moved her to the nursing home and he hasn't taken my grandson at all that bothers me! I want my mother to see him before she is gone, she keeps asking abut how they are and I don't even know.
On top of all of this we had our baby put to sleep Thrusday, we had had him almost 18 years. We are really devastated. He slept with us and went with us everywhere almost but work till he got sick in March. The vet seems to think now he probably had a brain tumor. She was wonderful with it all, she was as upset as we were and her staff even sent us a sympathy card, she brought him out to us wrapped in his blanket I had crocheted when he started getting sick, he was also in a pretty little box. Bobby buried him at the spring so he can enjoy the time together with us still.
Then Friday was my birthday, my daughter sent me flowers and then thru a party for me in Mother's room at the nursing home, we probably made some people sick cause we fed whoever came by and wanted a piece of cake, most of the residence are all precious and we have become a family in only a few weeks. All the nurses and tech and patients.
well time to get off jsut wanted to catch everyone up on the Sanford family happenings such as they are. HAve a great Sunday, Go VOLS and So sorry Titans!!!oh yeah Sorry Vandy too!! Better luck next week...

ya know life sometimes just sucks
and the past two weeks my life is living proff, was suppose to have my grandson for a whole week whil I took vacation but in my son's wonderful words, "Plans Change" would have been ever so thoughtful if he'd have shared those changes BEFORE I ask for a week vacation, I'd have only ask for the one Day he ALLOWED me the honor of having my darling boy, man jealousy is a terrible thing among children and the older they get the worse it seems to get! then if that isn't terrible my next news is horrible, my beautiful daughter lost her baby Wednesday, had to have a DnC yesterday! she is so unhappy she wanted thsi baby and so did I but maybe next time, at least we now know she can get pregnant!!! we for years thought she never would.
work just sucks!! wish I could quit, I am looking tho, 12 years seems to be plenty of time there! not sure I can stand may more days! maybe this family shit is getting to me tho and not really work, nope it is really work.
laid the baby projects aside, I am now back to mindless scarfs, need to do those no thought projects for a while!!!
well I am saying goodnight, I am no company for even myself today! I will try to post more cheerful news next time, thank you world for listening to a mother's woes.

Baby's heartbeat
It's real it is really real. I went to the DR with Angie Tuesday, since she is age 36 and has high blood pressure, they did an ultrasound just to be sure everything was ok, well it is a tiny thing only a speck at this time but it has a strong heartbeat, yep only ine but it is very strong per the tech who does these dozens of times a day. OMG a tiny heartbeat for a baby I never thought would be!! I was overwhelmed and stil choke up everytime I think of it!!
Sunday was Father's day and my husband's daughter called she and her husband live in VA with their beautiful daughters who are so into Soccer!! Sad to say we don't see them at all it's been 3 years, it is so hard for them with the girls and my big bad Marine has little time off that they can get this far away from home. We understand with the girls being teenagers and their own activities but it doesn't make missing them any easier. Of course we could drive up there too but it has gotten to where in our older age all we want to do is veg here at home after working all the time!! So Hi Tammy, Judd, Lindsay and Taylor!!!
only 1 more week till I get to veg in my pool all week I swear you will have to MAKE me lift a finger around the house, I plan a week of playing only!!! I cna clean and cook and all the wifely duties some other time! Daniel will be here all week and I'll have Kerry (my step grandaughter) one day to play with us too. Bobby says he may run a dozier for a friend of ours for a few hours and I told him go ahead, I am doing NOTHING!
Time to get dressed for that dreaded work! one of my bosses is on vacation, whew that is always a tough time, it means I have to cover two desks! but you know what they say about payback...hee hee he is due a much deserved rest tho! he works way to hard and worries way too much! hope he enjoys these days with his wife and family!!!

I just spent 30 minutes typing the funniest blog ever and the electricity went off so guess it wasn't meant for me to post that one, so I am just going to make this time short and sweet I refuse to type all that again, Like I could remember it all anyway!!

Daniel is looking forward to spending a week here and we are too, so July 3rd hold on it's happening for real!! got to remember to pick up some icy pops for the freezer since we will be outside in the pool 99% of the time! Of course he's gonna want to play on the computer too, and lay around with his game boy so I will get some slow time too I am sure. Working on a baby blanket in some beautiful snow white Bernat Boucle Baby I won off ebay, it is turning out beautiful tho is a bit tough to crochet. My hook wants to hang some doesn't slide off real easy but that's ok I have till Feb to finish! yeah righ I have so many WIMs to do before that baby gets here!!
gotta go now in case the electricity goes off again, they MUST be working on the lines somewhere or they just want to piss people off getting ready to go to church..ha

I'm having another grandbaby!! YEAH!!
Wow it's been a while, My daughter called me Monday morning so very happy she is 36 and pregnant with her 1st child!! we are overwhelmed, she has wanted a baby forever, and has had so many female problems we NEVER thought it would happen. As soon as she goes to the DR we can start buying, ok so yesterday I bought a lamb blanket, I spent over an hour looking on line for a christening gown pattern knitted, found a couple hope Mawmaw is smart enough to do the pattern. and what if it is more than one, she has been on fertility drugs for almost a year!! we could have several, oh my!!
Right now I am into dishcloths, I joined this fab group on yahoo who does dishcloths, what a great way to learn different patterns and they are so quick. We did a KAL (knit -a-long) for a red dress representing women and heart attacks it was so much fun, just getting a few lines to knit each day and not having a clue what it was you were knitting then finishing and saying wow...
we started a new one yesterday, I am also stripping and staining my rocker, swing and glider on the patio, whew is that a job?? well gotta get back to work. Thanks for letting me share all my happy news, I wonder what Dano is going to say about a new baby at Mawmaw's house, think he'll be thrilled he's wanted a brother or sister this way he can have a cousin and still be the only one!! ha Mawmaw will still treasure him!! in a few weeks he gets to come stay a whole week wiht us, I can hardly wait we'll hav eso much fun swimming and playing and playing with the goats!!
Keep on Knitting...

what's on your needles?
I joined my 1st knitting dishcloth club last week, the other clubs I have joined on knitting or crochet are mainly chatter and lots of patterns, a crochet a long group makes some nice things, and I have even joined in on a darling bag, but they are way too advanced for me. the knitting groups I am in are way too talented from the looks of their blogs, but I feel like I fit right into this dishcloth group, I am a big lurker, but I enjoy reading and seeing what other people have done, this weekend we made a dishcloth that the group leader gave us a few directions each day but no one knew what design it was going to be till we finished, it was a dress, after I finished I realized it was suppose to be done in red thread but the only cotton I had was leftovers from a bag I did and it was a blue varigated, but it turned out nice. it was easy and a quick project, think I have found my niche, except I also joined a sock group cause I really really want to learn to knit on double pointed needles and the sock looks like it would be fun to do as well plus it is a small project which make is easier to tote, maybe I will eventually get the nerve, but until then I feel another knit dishcloth in the works. so many projects so little time.

Thursday!! one more day till fun time!
It is Thursday, a very slow day here at work today so thought I'd take a few minutes and update my blog it has been a while. Mother's day went really well, my son and his wife came too, 1st time since they were married, they always spend that day with her mom which is fine, I always tried to spend as much time with mine as I could on Mother's day and say Bobby's mom only shortly. we had my mother, my sister was up as well, my daughter, her husband and his daughter so a wonderful family day only one missing was my grandson and he was with his mother. I did lose my baby goat we had been feeding since his birth 5 weeks before, It was heartbreaking cause I had gotton so attached to him, he was so precious. I am trying to talk Bobby into taking his mother to the sale Saturday, she has another baby tho and he wants to wait till she weans him, it really hurts to see her and the other baby doing just fine when she wouldn't have anything to do with my baby.
Ebay...my addiction, well one of them, Goodwill is the other one, I have been so good staying away from Goodwill, since I got rid of half the clothes in there all I could no longer fit into I figured as cheap as they are at Goodwill, if I ever loose weight again I can go back and buy more. back to Ebay, it is getting really adictive, I have stopped at the convience store so much in the last two weeks for money orders they are starting to ask what I am getting now..ha, I have bought this past week children's books, cookooks, and diet books, but I am excited about what I sent money in for today, it is a viritual smorgassboard of vintage costume jewelry, pictures are so exciting, hope in real life when it arrives I will be as excited, and I got it all for a great amount. that's what I love the bargain hunting of it all. well guess I better get back to work.
oh before I go tho I have to brag about something I did last night, I belong to these crochet and knitting groups so I have been printing out tons of patterns, last night I sat down and probably half of them are now in protective sheets and in binders, over 200 of them anyway, of course B,obby was sitting there beside me going "why don't you just throw all those away you know you won't make half of them" but I started on a cotton shawl/ or poncho, I had done as a shrug before in wool, so na na na boo boo, MEN, just what do they know?

Tomorrow is Mother's day
for those of us who are still lucky enough to have our mothers, tomorrow is their day, I feel so lucky mine is 89 and young as ever, she is beginning to slow down just a little but is really remarkable, she lives by herself, maintains her house, cooking, groceries and banking all with only a ride needed to the store. I hope her genes are embeded deep in me as well, she still crochets, reads and sews. of course we all get to hear her say I am healthier than my children, well that was true of our brother (he passed away last year at 68 years old, however my sister and I are both very healthy. Thank you Jesus. I have spent the day helping my husband get the yard ready for summer, you know, mulch, planting flowers, and shrubs, so very little has been done for the party tomorrow here for all of us Mothers in the Milligan family. So tomotrrow morning will be a challenge, trying to get everything done before everyoen comes, oh well it is only dirt, if it isn't spoltess who cares, right?? I would like to say "Happpy Mother's Day" to everyone, kiss your mother tomorrow, this could be the last year you celebrate together. We never know so, enjoy the day with your family as much as possible.

Monday, Monday, so good to me??
well it was rather quiet at work today, shhhh, all hell will break loose tomorrow probably!! whew another busy weekend but mostly fun, had my GS birthday party Saturday, my wonderful daughter thought up a Pirate Scavenger hunt, he had so much fun!! he'll be 9 tomorrow, the hunt ended up with a treasure chest full of Booty!! I bought all the toys and stuff at Dollar Tree and he loved it all, of course I spent 25 bucks, but there are a lot of pool toys in it so it'll keep him happy when sumertime gets here and we can get in my pool! he also got a 25 dollar walmart card from my sister, bubble machine from Aunt Angie, money from my mother and 2 game boy advanced games from me and papa!! on top of feeding the crew and ice cream cake, but they are worth it right??
I spent the day yesterday cleaning out my closet and 5-39 gallon trash bags of summer clothes later I can find things that actually fit!!
well time is gone for the day got to snuggle with DH for a few minutes so he won't be so jealous of my computer, after 32 years you'd think he could care less but a great friend of mine left her husband for someone she met on the net (right Deb?) so guess he may get nervous..hee hee Smooches everyone...till next time!

wonderful Talladega weekend
When I last wrote I was really bummed we weren't going to 'Dega. But we had friends come down from KY and we have had a blast. David use to work for the same company I do only he worked at the warehouse, so we went to the big Charity yardsale/silent auction at my office yesterday and he got to see lots of people he knew, then we ran around Lebanon took his girlfriend, who I love Tammy, to the warehouse, and flea market, Lowes and Walmart. then we went to Gallatin last night and ate Chinese, came home and crashed, then today they are visiting some more of his old friends, I am so happy they feel comfortable here , maybe they will come more often.
Bobby and I are now enjoying the quiet watching the race stuff but it's raining here and 'Dega so I am on the net for a few and also doing laundry. This has been a busy but fun weekend. Gotta get back to by honey on the couch, he is feeling ignored by me with the computer....oh yeah I bought 2 tickets to Indy 500 yesterday at the silent auction, hopefully I'll be making my first sale on Ebay, I'll let ya'll know if I like selling as much as buying!!

yep, it's been a while
disapointed is a small word compared to how I feel about not going to one of my favorite places this week, for about 10 years it has been a vacation for us to be one of the idiot campers at Talladega, AL for the races, but since we are actively feeding 2 babies we couldn't go or so I keep telling myself. We are having friends here tho for the weekend, a couple of the guys who usually go too are coming here instead of going. since we have "the Spring" we'll be Dega partying at the spring, that way we are only a few feet away from all our kids and mama's. The Goats...
really had a fun weekend last weekend, had friends over Saturday and Family on Sunday, it's been really cool this week but warmer today and hopefully for the rest of the weekend. Storms for Saturday night and Sunday are predicted but maybe not!! hope ya'll have enjoyed a few of my pics, now maybe I can learn to add some other stuff as well. planning for my Daniel's Birthday next week, also going ot have Mother's day as well. kinda killing two birds with one stone so they say. well better get ready for bed, since I'm not on vacation as usual this time of year this week I gotta go to work, yuck...Happy Knitting and GO Dale JR!!
