what's on your needles?

I joined my 1st knitting dishcloth club last week, the other clubs I have joined on knitting or crochet are mainly chatter and lots of patterns, a crochet a long group makes some nice things, and I have even joined in on a darling bag, but they are way too advanced for me. the knitting groups I am in are way too talented from the looks of their blogs, but I feel like I fit right into this dishcloth group, I am a big lurker, but I enjoy reading and seeing what other people have done, this weekend we made a dishcloth that the group leader gave us a few directions each day but no one knew what design it was going to be till we finished, it was a dress, after I finished I realized it was suppose to be done in red thread but the only cotton I had was leftovers from a bag I did and it was a blue varigated, but it turned out nice. it was easy and a quick project, think I have found my niche, except I also joined a sock group cause I really really want to learn to knit on double pointed needles and the sock looks like it would be fun to do as well plus it is a small project which make is easier to tote, maybe I will eventually get the nerve, but until then I feel another knit dishcloth in the works. so many projects so little time.

Thursday!! one more day till fun time!

It is Thursday, a very slow day here at work today so thought I'd take a few minutes and update my blog it has been a while. Mother's day went really well, my son and his wife came too, 1st time since they were married, they always spend that day with her mom which is fine, I always tried to spend as much time with mine as I could on Mother's day and say Bobby's mom only shortly. we had my mother, my sister was up as well, my daughter, her husband and his daughter so a wonderful family day only one missing was my grandson and he was with his mother. I did lose my baby goat we had been feeding since his birth 5 weeks before, It was heartbreaking cause I had gotton so attached to him, he was so precious. I am trying to talk Bobby into taking his mother to the sale Saturday, she has another baby tho and he wants to wait till she weans him, it really hurts to see her and the other baby doing just fine when she wouldn't have anything to do with my baby.

Ebay...my addiction, well one of them, Goodwill is the other one, I have been so good staying away from Goodwill, since I got rid of half the clothes in there all I could no longer fit into I figured as cheap as they are at Goodwill, if I ever loose weight again I can go back and buy more. back to Ebay, it is getting really adictive, I have stopped at the convience store so much in the last two weeks for money orders they are starting to ask what I am getting now..ha, I have bought this past week children's books, cookooks, and diet books, but I am excited about what I sent money in for today, it is a viritual smorgassboard of vintage costume jewelry, pictures are so exciting, hope in real life when it arrives I will be as excited, and I got it all for a great amount. that's what I love the bargain hunting of it all. well guess I better get back to work.

oh before I go tho I have to brag about something I did last night, I belong to these crochet and knitting groups so I have been printing out tons of patterns, last night I sat down and probably half of them are now in protective sheets and in binders, over 200 of them anyway, of course B,obby was sitting there beside me going "why don't you just throw all those away you know you won't make half of them" but I started on a cotton shawl/ or poncho, I had done as a shrug before in wool, so na na na boo boo, MEN, just what do they know?

Tomorrow is Mother's day

for those of us who are still lucky enough to have our mothers, tomorrow is their day, I feel so lucky mine is 89 and young as ever, she is beginning to slow down just a little but is really remarkable, she lives by herself, maintains her house, cooking, groceries and banking all with only a ride needed to the store. I hope her genes are embeded deep in me as well, she still crochets, reads and sews. of course we all get to hear her say I am healthier than my children, well that was true of our brother (he passed away last year at 68 years old, however my sister and I are both very healthy. Thank you Jesus. I have spent the day helping my husband get the yard ready for summer, you know, mulch, planting flowers, and shrubs, so very little has been done for the party tomorrow here for all of us Mothers in the Milligan family. So tomotrrow morning will be a challenge, trying to get everything done before everyoen comes, oh well it is only dirt, if it isn't spoltess who cares, right?? I would like to say "Happpy Mother's Day" to everyone, kiss your mother tomorrow, this could be the last year you celebrate together. We never know so, enjoy the day with your family as much as possible.

Smooches everyone

Monday, Monday, so good to me??

well it was rather quiet at work today, shhhh, all hell will break loose tomorrow probably!! whew another busy weekend but mostly fun, had my GS birthday party Saturday, my wonderful daughter thought up a Pirate Scavenger hunt, he had so much fun!! he'll be 9 tomorrow, the hunt ended up with a treasure chest full of Booty!! I bought all the toys and stuff at Dollar Tree and he loved it all, of course I spent 25 bucks, but there are a lot of pool toys in it so it'll keep him happy when sumertime gets here and we can get in my pool! he also got a 25 dollar walmart card from my sister, bubble machine from Aunt Angie, money from my mother and 2 game boy advanced games from me and papa!! on top of feeding the crew and ice cream cake, but they are worth it right??

I spent the day yesterday cleaning out my closet and 5-39 gallon trash bags of summer clothes later I can find things that actually fit!!

well time is gone for the day got to snuggle with DH for a few minutes so he won't be so jealous of my computer, after 32 years you'd think he could care less but a great friend of mine left her husband for someone she met on the net (right Deb?) so guess he may get nervous..hee hee Smooches everyone...till next time!

wonderful Talladega weekend

When I last wrote I was really bummed we weren't going to 'Dega. But we had friends come down from KY and we have had a blast. David use to work for the same company I do only he worked at the warehouse, so we went to the big Charity yardsale/silent auction at my office yesterday and he got to see lots of people he knew, then we ran around Lebanon took his girlfriend, who I love Tammy, to the warehouse, and flea market, Lowes and Walmart. then we went to Gallatin last night and ate Chinese, came home and crashed, then today they are visiting some more of his old friends, I am so happy they feel comfortable here , maybe they will come more often.

Bobby and I are now enjoying the quiet watching the race stuff but it's raining here and 'Dega so I am on the net for a few and also doing laundry. This has been a busy but fun weekend. Gotta get back to by honey on the couch, he is feeling ignored by me with the computer....oh yeah I bought 2 tickets to Indy 500 yesterday at the silent auction, hopefully I'll be making my first sale on Ebay, I'll let ya'll know if I like selling as much as buying!!

yep, it's been a while

disapointed is a small word compared to how I feel about not going to one of my favorite places this week, for about 10 years it has been a vacation for us to be one of the idiot campers at Talladega, AL for the races, but since we are actively feeding 2 babies we couldn't go or so I keep telling myself. We are having friends here tho for the weekend, a couple of the guys who usually go too are coming here instead of going. since we have "the Spring" we'll be Dega partying at the spring, that way we are only a few feet away from all our kids and mama's. The Goats...
really had a fun weekend last weekend, had friends over Saturday and Family on Sunday, it's been really cool this week but warmer today and hopefully for the rest of the weekend. Storms for Saturday night and Sunday are predicted but maybe not!! hope ya'll have enjoyed a few of my pics, now maybe I can learn to add some other stuff as well. planning for my Daniel's Birthday next week, also going ot have Mother's day as well. kinda killing two birds with one stone so they say. well better get ready for bed, since I'm not on vacation as usual this time of year this week I gotta go to work, yuck...Happy Knitting and GO Dale JR!!

my version of the prayer shawl, out of Lion incredable ribbon, it only cost $80 bucks to make, yep, but I love it and have had so many compliments, maybe at that price it'll last forever! I do think it is beautiful tho, the pic really doesn't do it justice. Posted by Picasa
a ball of silk yarn it took me two weeks to unravel a sweater I got for 50 cents from Goodwill, think I'll make a shawl out of it for this summer, to the left of it is my 1st felt project. it is a knitted bag and instead of shrinking it expanded 3 times... Posted by Picasa
a bag I made from nylon twine. besied it one I made from Lion Brand cotton Posted by Picasa
Daniel and the most spoiled goat in the world, "
Underdog" cause he crawls under the fence when he sees us in the yard, his mama dies when he was born so he does think we are his parents. He has been bottle fed since birth Posted by Picasa

has it really been that long?

Sorry everyone for not posting sooner! I have been a little under the weather and we have had some really bad weather, when that happens I unplug this baby so it won't get shocked. I finally finished that shawl, ti turned out beautiful and she even has worn it so Mama did GOOD. now what to do next? I bought some cotton yarn to make a top but no pattern that I like has turned up, all those "new" ebay needles and nothing to do...had my grandson last Wednesday, Thursday and took him home Friday we had sooo much fun! Mawmaw and Papa just love to be with him, had the whole family Saturday for Easter lunch since Daniel will be with his mother next weekend. We all had a good time Saturday inspite of all the storms and heartaches families we going thru only a few miles away, think that is why we all enjoyed it so we realize we need to live every minute together we can!

Friday night and all is calm once again

WE took Daniel to meet his mama around 3 this afternoon, we sure had fun with the boy but as always it sure is quiet when he leaves, and of course his room is a turmoil, but I got all kinds of time to fix it back! in a few months anyway ha ha. Bobby got hurt at work, Wednesday has a concussion and is having some trouble seeing at times, but they did a CT scan and said all is well, just some drainage causing pressure around his eye from the concussion. It was hard babying him and playing with Daniel too, typical MAN couldn't pay him enough attention, he was up most of the night Wednesday but slept some last night. He must feel really bad we aren't at the bar tonight and he LOVES playing cards so he must really feel bad!! Well gotta go get on Ebay, oh yeah Daniel named the "pet " goat we bottle feed, "Underdog" cause he crawls under the fence when he sees us outside, he thinks Bobby is his mama cause she died giving birth to him and Bobby is the 1st thing he saw plus he feeds him more than I since I work and he feeds before I get home most nights, he gets home about 2 hours before I do.

My Friday from work

Yeahhoo, this is my Friday, this afternoon Ipick up Daniel for two nioghts and days, tehn Friday he has to go back to his mama's house, but I will do my best to totally ruin him in that time frame. We are going to play with the goats and anything else he wants to do, he never gets to be at home cause his mama is always running and doing their thing so he loves to just be here and not go anywhere so other than going out to eat we will probably be palying with his old toys here, maybe even weed some out for the next yard sale? he is like the rest of us, hates to throw or give up his stuff...I probably will not be back on line till Saturday...meanwhile, I have started on another "Well Traveled Bag" in navy solid, light blue solid, multi blues & sage and sage solid. This time I will nt ofelt as much, and I plan to use more yarn and increase length of each round. this pattern is a crochet but moves so quickly and is a no thinking project. I just keep up with the rounds with a pen and post it note. Goodbye for now

Monday, YUCK

yes it's Monday but I only have to work today, tomorrow and Wednesday then I get 4 days off yeah, I am almost finished I think with Angie's shawl, it is really pretty, she is suppose to come by, I have one more skein of yarn I could make it longer if she wants and I need to know if she wants fringe and if so how long.

so while I wait for her to come by before I join another skein I started on another "well traveled bag" it was on a crochet group I am in and I did one already the pattern is really easy, only last time I felted too much and it came out smaller than I want, so last night I started another one, only I may not do the grommets and leather for handle this time I plan to crochet a long handle and maybe line and fasten with one of those magnetic fasteners, then I plan to do one in double cotton yarn for the summer.

yesterday I dusted off my sewing maching and lined two bags I had done and repaired two pairs of Bobby's work pants. one of my bags is darling I knitted it in straight garter stitch in white cotton thread. the other one I knitted from an interweave pattern and felted it as well, it also shrunk the wrong way, I wanted it long in length, it came out short in length and long in width, but I finished it off anyway and will probably be a gift for someone Christmas, If I can ever remember to but a camera I'll make some pics for my blog...if I can figure out how!! I may have to get some of my knitting group friends to jump in and help with that as well, they are such greta techy friends, and I also have a log distance friend in ND who is very techy if she can talk me through it.

Ya'll make it a great day!! Smooches

Sunday 3/24

Snow, yep we had flurries yesterday, we watched the Busch race yesterday in Bristol and theyhad enough snow to be throwing snowballs, what fun the fans and crews were having!! had my boys for Friday night and yesterday, had a wonderful time with them, I am really looking forward to having Daniel to myself for two whole days Thursday and Friday! he is growing up so but still so much fun, he loves to play with the goats and his room here has all his old toys from birth I just can't seem to toss them cause he still goes in there and finds all kinds of stuff. think he has finally put together all the lego stuff he got for Christmas, he had gotten this huge plane from my sister to put together so it went to his daddy's house so he could help, Brax said they had finished it and it is in his room at his Daddy and Julie's house. I kept all the little easy stuff for here for quick put togethering..well tomorrow back to work but it is only a 3 day week for me yahoo....
